The beautiful Winter season is at our doorstep, and we dream and plan off evenings gathered around a crackling fire and snuggling up in a soft, warm blanket with a good book and a steaming cup of tea.

We are also aware that shorter days, colder temperatures, and reduced sunshine can leave us feeling tired, achy, and low on energy making Winter a challenging time for our physical and emotional wellness.

Incorporating essential oils into your life during this time of the year can help to boost your mood, support your immune system, nourish your skin, relieve stress, unwind, breathe with ease, and sleep better, so this is a great time to gather a selection of your favourite Winter essential oils, set up a nurturing Winter Wellbeing Routine and top up your Winter cabinet with some natural homemade remedies.

Treat yourself to this heavenly-scented winter wellbeing routine

1. Start your day with a diffuser blend

One of the best ways to incorporate essential oils into your winter wellbeing routine is by using a diffuser. Diffusing essential oils may help to purify the air, boost your mood, and support your immune system. In the morning, try diffusing a blend of Rosemary oil and Lemon oil to wake up your senses and boost your energy levels. Rosemary oil is energising and invigorating, while Lemon oil is bright and uplifting.

2. Use essential oils for immune system support

Boost your immune system to stay healthy throughout the season and help prevent catching colds and flu. Essential oils such as Cinnamon oil, and Tea Tree oil have powerful antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that can help to support your immune system. You can add a few drops of these oils to a diffuser or mix them with a carrier oil and apply them to the soles of your feet or chest.

3. Incorporate essential oils into your skincare routine

The dry Winter air withdraws moisture from your skin making it dry, itchy, and flaky. Essential oils can be a great way to moisturise and nourish your skin during the Winter months. Lavender oil and Frankincense oil are both great options for skincare. Lavender oil has calming properties that may help to reduce redness and irritation, while Frankincense oil has anti-aging properties that may help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Use essential oils when feeling stressed

The colder and darker weather along with shorter days can contribute to feelings of stress and anxiety. Essential oils such as Lavender oil, and Bergamot oil may help to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels. You can add a few drops of these oils to a diffuser or mix them with a carrier oil and apply them to your temples or wrists.

5. Immerse yourself in an aromatic wellness bath

Taking a warm bath is a great way to relax and unwind during the Winter months. Adding essential oils to your bath can enhance the benefits even further. Try adding a few drops of Bergamot oil, Peppermint oil, and Lavender oil to your bathwater to help muscle tension, boost your mood, and promote relaxation. Be sure to dilute in a dispersant such as full fat milk, coconut milk, carrier oil or honey.

6. Use essential oils for respiratory support

The colder weather can cause respiratory issues such as coughs, colds, and flu. Essential oils such as Peppermint oil, and Tea Tree oil may help to relieve respiratory symptoms and support healthy breathing. You can add a few drops of these oils to a diffuser or mix them with a carrier oil and apply them to your chest or back.

7. End your day with a calming diffuser blend

In the evening, it feels good to finally wind down and prepare for a restful night's sleep. Diffusing essential oils can help to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality. Try diffusing a blend of Lavender oil, Chamomile oil, and Bergamot oil to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels.
