When it comes to romance and sensuality, our sense a smell plays an important role in setting the mood and enhancing our emotional state. When inhaled, essential oils enter through the blood stream and access our limbic system, the primitive part of our brain associated with instinct and emotions. Once the limbic system is triggered neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and endorphins are released.

In aromatherapy, some scents are renowned for their aphrodisiac qualities and their ability to calm the nervous system, uplift mood, increase blood circulation and awaken the senses. Simply diffuse your favourite aphrodisiac essential oil in the room to set the mood or mix with a carrier oil and use in a massage.

The most important is to choose a scent that you like and that makes you and your partner feel good.

Essential Oils for Love & Romance

Ylang Ylang: The flowers of the Ylang Ylang tree are traditionally used in Indonesia to decorate the bed of newly married couples on their wedding night due to their uplifting and aphrodisiac qualities. Ylang Ylang essential oil relaxes the body and mind, slows down the heart rate and enhances mood.

Black Pepper: With a fresh, warm and woody scent, Black Pepper Essential Oil is an invigorating oil which increases energy. Beautiful and warming, Black Pepper essential oil increases circulation and strengthens the nervous system.

Cinnamon: A sweet, warm and spicy scent with antiseptic qualities that can really lift your spirits. A beautiful oil to awaken the senses, increase circulation and warms the body.

Sandalwood: The warm and sweet woody aroma of sandalwood is truly a gift from nature. Sandalwood instils a deeply nurturing sense of peace and calm. It relieves tension in the body and is deeply hydrating for the skin.

Patchouli: With a lovely earthy scent, Patchouli essential oil has a grounding effect on the mind and emotions. It calms anxiety, sharpens the mind and creates a romantic atmosphere.
