Active vs Passive Diffusion

Active vs Passive Diffusion

The Difference Between Active and Passive Diffusion

Essential oils can be dispersed into the air in two main ways: active diffusion and passive diffusion.

Active diffusion uses ultrasonic or nebulising diffusers to pump essential oils into the air, dispersing them quickly and evenly throughout your space.

Passive diffusion, on the other hand, allows oils to evaporate naturally without any mechanism pushing them into the air. This method gently scents the surrounding area until the aroma fades and is ideal for subtle fragrance in small spaces such as desks, bathrooms, cars, or bedside tables.

Active Diffusion: Diffusers and Benefits

Our ultrasonic diffusers use high-frequency vibrations to disperse essential oils into a fine mist. We offer corded and cordless options, with a variety of styles including ceramic and glass designs. They quickly fill your space with fragrance, creating an uplifting or calming atmosphere depending on the oils you choose.

Benefits of Active Diffusion:

  • Consistent fragrance throughout a room
  • Enhances ambiance with lights and colour modes
  • Timer and mist settings allow full control over oil release
  • Ideal for larger spaces or when a stronger aroma is desired

They gently release fragrance over time, creating a subtle, calming atmosphere that’s perfect for small spaces like desks, bedside tables, or bathrooms. With just a few drops of your favourite oils, passive diffusers let you enjoy soothing aromas throughout the day, without overwhelming your space or those around you.

Benefits of Passive Diffusion:

  • Compact, portable, and easy to use
