How do I know if these are safe for my pet? All of our Pet Friendly Blends and recommended oils have been carefully selected and formulated in collaboration with leading industry experts. Each product undergoes rigorous quality control testing to ensure the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.
Can I add essential oils to my pets food? Ingestion of essential oils can be very dangerous for pets and cause severe health issues. Always keep oils out of reach from your pet, if your pet does ingest an essential oil contact your veterinarian immediately, do not induce vomiting as there is a risk of aspiration and damage to the lungs.
How many drops should I use for my pet's size and breed? When using essential oils for pets, less is always more, their sense of smell is much stronger than ours and it is better to use caution and safety.
Diffuser: We recommend to start using 3-5 drops in a diffuser in a well ventilated area for a medium pet (10-20kg). If your pet is smaller you can adjust by reducing the amount of drops used.
Aromatherapy Collar: 1 diluted drop for pets under 8kg, 1-2 drops for pets over 8kg. Every pet is different, and some may have sensitivities that aren't immediately obvious. Before introducing any essential oils into your pet’s environment, consult with your veterinarian, especially if they have respiratory issues, allergies, or other health conditions.
Why isn’t there a cat aromatherapy collar? Cats should never come into close contact with essential oils. Cats are known for their meticulous self-grooming habits, they spend a considerable amount of time licking, cleaning, and maintaining their fur. Some studies suggest cats can spend up to 50% of their waking hours grooming. As the risk of your cat licking the aromatherapy collar attachment is much higher due to this we have opted not to include this in our range. A cat's body mass is also significantly less than a dog, so closer application of essential oil may not be safe for your cat.
Can humans use the pet-friendly essential oil blends? Yes! Our blends are formulated to be pet-friendly but can still be enjoyed by humans.
Is these safe to use during human pregnancy? Always ask your doctor first. We haven't found any evidence against the use of these essential oil blends during pregnancy. For yours and your baby's optimal health we recommend diffusing. Avoid using essential oils during the first trimester unless you are under the supervision of a qualified practitioner. See our full list of pregnancy safe oils in our FAQs.
Are these safe for children? The Pawfect Air blend contains Lemongrass which can be a skin irritant for children. Essential oils are considered too strong for use on babies’ skin (0-24 months) and can be overwhelming on their developing systems. When using in a diffuser, use fewer drops then that for an adult (eg. 2-3 drops). See our ECO. Little range for appropriate, kid-friendly blends.
