How many drops should I use for my pet's size and breed? When using essential oils for pets, less is always more, their sense of smell is much stronger than ours and it is better to use caution and safety.
Diffuser: We recommend to start using 3-5 drops in a diffuser in a well ventilated area for a medium pet (10-20kg). If your pet is smaller you can adjust by reducing the amount of drops used. Use this method prior to exposing your pet to the aromatherapy collar to ensure they are comfortable with the oil being used.
Aromatherapy Collar: 1 diluted drop for pets under 8kg, 1-2 diluted drops for pets over 8kg. Every pet is different, and some may have sensitivities that aren't immediately obvious. Before introducing any essential oils into your pet’s environment, consult with your veterinarian, especially if they have respiratory issues, allergies, or other health conditions. Always use diluted essential oils and pet-friendly oils such as Lavender or Frankincense for application.
Why isn’t there a cat aromatherapy collar? Cats should never come into close contact with essential oils. Cats are known for their meticulous self-grooming habits, they spend a considerable amount of time licking, cleaning, and maintaining their fur. Some studies suggest cats can spend up to 50% of their waking hours grooming. As the risk of your cat licking the aromatherapy collar attachment is much higher due to this we have opted not to include this in our range. A cat's body mass is also significantly less than a dog, so closer application of essential oil may not be safe for your cat.
