The start of a New Year usually comes hand in hand with a "New Year, New Me" outlook. We start the year excited and determined to uphold our resolutions and more often then not they trickle away a few months in.

This year, we are taking an approach of setting intentions and rituals as opposed to "resolutions". An intention is an aim or a plan, it's the first step of achieving your goal. A ritual is your attitude behind the action - a more meaningful practice which has a real sense of purpose. Essential oils can be a supporting element while setting and foreseeing your intentions. You can make a mindful ritual to revisit these essential oils to remind you of why you set certain intensions.

Choose Frankincense if..

you are setting the intention of emotional connection. This may be toward loved ones, work, social interactions or most importantly, yourself. Often used during meditation - Frankincense promotes grounding, balancing and openness. This will welcome connections from everyone and everything, dismissing feelings of isolation or emotional destress.

Choose Basil if..

you are setting the intention of extending your knowledge, wisdom or insights. Basil improves clear thinking and has energising effects on the body and mind. It is a great essential oil to help increase concentration and focus. Add 6-8 drops in your diffuser while studying, working or focusing on a project.

Choose Bergamot if..

you are setting the intention of better communication and/or being truthful to yourself. Bergamot promotes a positive outlook and restores communication. It can assist in problems such as shyness or social anxiety.

Choose Rose if..

you are setting the intention of welcoming new love or connect on a deeper level with those you love. The symbol of a rose itself is significant to Valentines Day, the day of love. The aroma of Rose will do the same by gently soothing the heart and upholding the spirit.

Choose Fennel if..

you are setting the intention to build confidence, strength or determination. This could be in yourself, toward a project or even just on a day to day basis. Fennel has many benefits for the mind, body and soul. It is uplifting, promotes mental clarity, focus and concentration.

Choose Clary Sage if..

you are setting the intention of welcoming more pleasure into your life. Clary Sage is an anti depressant so it can help lift your mood while clearing out negative energies from your surrounding environment. It may help with nervousness, fear, paranoia and depression. Stimulating and revitalising.

Choose Sandalwood if..

you are setting the intention of being grounded and to gain more stability in your life. A warming balm for a sore heart, a restorative break from a non-stop hectic lifestyle, Sandalwood transports us to a meditative space. Sprout your roots to settle down with this calming, soothing and grounding blend.
